Japanese artist Masayoshi Matsumoto’s work really pops—literally! He specializes in making detailed balloon animals. Matsumoto’s creations range from monkeys and owls to chameleons and octopuses. Some even glow in the dark!

“I was inspired by wildlife pictures and wanted to see if I could create realistic animals of my own,” he says.

The artist uses no glue making the animals. Each balloon animal takes about two to six hours to build. After he makes a new animal, Matsumoto takes a picture and posts it to his website. Then he pops the balloon art.
