Blue Lobster
ROBINSON RUSSELL
A lobsterman posted this rare blue lobster on Instagram and the photo went viral.
Robinson Russell catches lobsters for his job. In 2017, he was hauling in traps in Canada when he discovered a rare blue lobster.
Lobsters get their color from different pigments. Most of the time, they are a brownish color. (They turn red when cooked.)
Blue lobsters are rare. Scientists don’t know exactly how many are in the wild.
After Russell found this lobster, he posted a picture on Instagram. Then he donated the lobster to an aquarium in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Lobsters caught in Canadian waters have to be thrown back if their upper shell measures less than 77 millimeters (mm).
If a lobster measures 75 mm, can it be kept? Justify your answer with a comparison symbol.
