Number Line Video Lesson (With Free Templates!)

A real-world video about hiking, rounding, and estimation

I love hiking outside in the fall (who doesn’t?). Hiking was the inspiration for our awesome October video (above) that teaches rounding and estimation.

With real facts about Canada's Great Trail, students use vertical and horizontal number lines to learn about the coast-to-coast recreational trail spanning almost 15,000 miles.

(Need some eye candy? Check out their Instagram feed, @tctrail, for breathtaking wilderness views!)

The video is designed for frequent pausing, so you can question your students for understanding. Here's an example of what I mean:

I love number lines. But drawing them over and over can be time consuming. Which is why I’m happy to share our new number line templates that students can use to create number lines in snap. You can find it in this month’s Teacher’s Guide and on our website.

They’re part of a series of templates we’re creating to help you save time and meet your instructional goals. (Have an idea for one you’d like us to make? Please email me!)
